EJ Moreno reviews Peacock’s Crystal Lake…
We’re finally back in Crystal Lake, and it’s a bloody glorious return! Peacock and A24 have teamed up to deliver a love letter to one of the greatest horror franchises ever. It’s hard to talk about the Friday the 13th prequel series without diving into spoiler territory, but between a committed performance from the young actor playing Jason Voorhees and Linda Cardellini delivering the perfect horror leading-lady performance, this is must-see slasher TV. Horror fans, you’ll want to check this one out!
Crystal Lake may take some inspiration from one of TV’s biggest hits, Stranger Things, but it’s not the only show (even this year) that follows down that path. And shockingly, this series might be the most mature and focused outing we’ve seen from genre television in some time.

A prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise, the series follows single mother Pam Voorhees, who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door, digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events is set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?
All eight episodes of Crystal Lake will premiere on Peacock on October 15th.
