Mission: Impossible – Fallout has no deleted scenes says director Christopher McQuarrie

July 31, 2018 by Samuel Brace

The theatrical cut of Mission: Impossible – Fallout is all there is according to director Christopher McQuarrie, who has revealed that his film has no deleted scenes.

The sixth film in the long-running Mission: Impossible franchise has proven to be a massive hit with both critics and now with audiences at cinemas. But for those hoping that there might be some extra scenes to enjoy, or a director’s cut when Fallout is released on home video, will be disappointed.

According to director Christopher McQuarrie, when speaking to THR, the version of the film released in cinemas is all there is as every scene he filmed made it into the theatrical cut. McQuarrie says, however, that there will be some additional material for fans:

“There are no deleted scenes. We put together a deleted ‘reel of shots.’ I’m a big believer that the movie you’re seeing in the theater is the director’s cut. If I can’t defend it for theatrical release, it doesn’t belong in the movie. And yet, there was some really beautiful photography and some very nice moments with great locations. So, Eddie Hamilton and I created a little gift box. You can either watch it with some commentary, where we explain the process by which we take certain things out, or you can just listen to it with music.”

Are you disappointed that there won’t be any extra scenes or an alternate version of Fallout to enjoy down the road? Let us know your thoughts below as well as your reaction to the film as a whole.
