It star comments on meeting the “phenomenal” adult cast of It: Chapter Two

August 8, 2018 by Samuel Brace

One of the stars of It, Chosen Jacobs, has recalled meeting his It: Chapter Two adult actor counterpart, calling the casting “phenomenal”.

It: Chapter Two is obviously a hugely anticipated horror release, thanks to the blockbuster success of the first part adapted from Stephen King’s novel. The sequel will see adult actors take over from the kids of the first movie, showing another battle with the evil Pennywise decades into the future.

A lot has been made about the casting of the adult versions of characters audiences had grown to love in Chapter One and one person who is in love with the actors hired is Chosen Jacobs, who played a young Mike Hanlon (now to be portrayed as an adult by Isaiah Mustafa).

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Jacobs said: “We met the older cast, and they did such a phenomenal job with casting for each role. Seeing everyone in person, it’s so accurate. Especially for me. I felt like Isaiah is the perfect match for Older Mike Hanlon. It was an awesome thing, and we collaborated. He asked me questions on, ‘Okay, how do you think about this?’ and ‘How do you think Mike would play this?’ And I just sat down, gave him my embodiment of it.

“I trust him as an actor to make his own decisions as Mike Hanlon, but then just giving him how I viewed Mike, and just giving him little pointers of how I think Mike would act. With his skill level as an actor, he’ll run with that. I have total faith in all of our older versions to just kill the roles. But meeting him in person did give me a lot of peace and solace that the film was in good hands.”

It certainly must be a strange sensation for the younger actors having to watch as these established stars come in and take over the roles they so vibrantly brought to life in the first film. So it’s great to see actors like Jacobs are so excited by the casting choices.

It: Chapter Two will see Bill Skarsgard reprising his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, while Jessica Chastain (Beverly), James McAvoy (Bill), Bill Hader (Richie), James Ransone (Eddie), Andy Bean (Stanley), Jay Ryan (Ben) and Isaiah Mustafa (Mike) star as the adult versions of The Losers Club. Young stars Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff and Chosen Jacobs are also set to reprise their roles from the first movie in flashback sequences.

It: Chapter Two is set for release on September 6th 2019.
