Carrie Fisher’s brother says her Star Wars: Episode IX return is “important”

August 9, 2018 by Samuel Brace

The brother of the late Carrie Fisher has opened up further regarding his sister’s inclusion in Star Wars: Episode IX.

Ever since the news broke that Carrie Fisher had passed away, fans around the world have been wondering what this would mean for the future appearances of her character Leia – especially when it comes to 2019’s Episode IX for which she wasn’t able to film any new scenes.

We know now that unused footage from Episodes VII and VIII will allow Leia and Fisher to appear in the film, a move which was greeted with fondness by her brother Todd. Todd has now opened up further about the decision, telling ET Canada:

“It is not easy, I could tell you. For me, I have to watch a lot of these old movies and it is heartbreaking sometimes to see your family that has left us. But if you believe in the way our family does – in the Force – we aren’t really apart at all and she will always be with us. But it is nice when you can put her back up on the screen and continue the story and continue the saga. That is important for all of us.”

This is clearly a big deal for Todd and his family and it will certainly mean a lot to fans to see the actress one last time on the big screen. Are you looking forward to seeing more of Leia in Episode IX?
