While fans have the best part of a year to wait until the arrival of Descendants 3, The Disney Channel has announced that the brand new live-action short Under the Sea: A Descendants Story is set to premiere this September.
The short-form special features arch-nemeses Mal (Dove Cameron) and Uma (China Anne McClain) squaring off in an epic underwater showdown. Also featuring in the cast are Thomas Doherty (Harry), Dylan Playfair (Gil) and Dizzy (Anna Cathcart).

The Descendants franchise – which focuses on the teenage offspring of some of Disney’s most iconic villains – has proved to be a huge hit for the Mouse House, with the first two instalments becoming the biggest cable movies of 2015 and 2017 respectively. Both films’ soundtracks topped the iTunes and Billboard charts, and the franchise has spawned a host of merchandise, along with three New York Times bestselling YA novels.
Under the Sea: A Descendants Story will premiere on The Disney Channel on September 28th, while Descendants 3 is slated to arrive in the summer of 2019.
