Update 4.6 arrives for World of Tanks: Mercenaries

August 29, 2018 by Andrew Newton

The latest update for World of Tanks: Mercenaries is now available on Xbox One and Playstation 4.  Update 4.6 brings with it a fresh perspective to play Artillery vehicles plus new maps, crews and mercenary vehicles.

Firstly, update 4.6 brings more variety to Artillery with the new ‘Trajectory’ view.  By using this view players can follow the shell’s trajectory, with the tank as the central pivoting point and as well as bringing new options for different playstyles is also more immersive.

A new group of vehicles and crews have been introduced to the Mercenaries, these are:

  • Thresher: A well armoured Light Tank with an aggressive weapon that is operated by Dark Fox, a New Zealander who served under British command during World War II before going rogue and seeking revenge against Axis forces.
  • Long Reach: A Heavy Tank that brings together the best of British, German, and Soviet engineering. This vehicle is captained by Brutal Beast, a Swiss ex-spy who travels across Europe, liberating towns and their people from German rule.
  • Sharpshooter: This Medium Tank combines machinery from Axis and Allied tanks, making for a nimble vehicle that packs a reliable shot. It’s under the command of Red Sentinel, an Italian soldier driven mad by the heat as he held his position against waves of Allied soldiers in a small Tunisian town.

As well as the expansion to the Mercenary roster there are also the additions to the Chinese and British Tech Trees.  The WZ-111 5A Chinese Tier X Heavy Tank has excellent armour and speed and will not be an easy target.  The British Tier X Heavy Tank, Super Conqueror, features all round thick armour providing protection from every angle, plus has great handling.

Two new multiplayer maps also make an appearance:

  • Caen – 1944 was originally used as the basis for the epic finale of the War Stories campaign Operation Sealion.  The map features a hilly landscape, large central ridge and a vast beach to the east.
  • Pearl River is an idyllic valley with rugged terrain and a riverbed that cuts through the map allowing ambushes and flanking manoeuvres.

Update 4.6 is available now on consoles.
