Warner Bros. reportedly increases interest in Lady Gaga for DC’s Birds of Prey

August 31, 2018 by EJ Moreno

With her first feature film leading role about to tear through awards season, Lady Gaga is going to be a hot commodity, and it seems that Warner Bros. wants to nab the A Star Is Born actress for the upcoming Birds of Prey film.

It was only a few weeks ago that reports said Lady Gaga declined a role in the DC Extended Universe but according to SuperBroMovies, the studio is now offering Lady Gaga a variety of roles and an increase in pay. Maybe with all the buzz about her upcoming film, Warner Bros. doesn’t want to lose this hot new commodity, especially if she finds herself in contention for Academy Award.

Birds of Prey will be the Cathy Yan-directed feature about DC’s comics team of female superheroes. The gallery of characters includes Harley Quinn, Huntress, Black Canary, Renee Montoya, and Cassandra Cain. So far, only Margot Robbie is cast as Harley Quinn, reprising her role from 2016’s Suicide Squad. None of the other heroes are cast yet, but Lady Gaga is rumored to be circling Black Canary.

Filming is said to get underway in January 2019, with a smaller budget than previous DCEU entries. It will also be R-Rated and rumored to feature notorious Batman villain Black Mask. The rumored plot centers around Harley, Black Canary, Huntress, and Renee trying to save Cassandra Cain from the evil crime lord.

What do you think about Lady Gaga in Birds Of Prey? Is it worth Warner Bros. pursuing her this much? Let us know in the comments…
