Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation passes $500 million at the global box office

September 17, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Having already topped its predecessors to become both the highest-grossing instalment in the franchise, and the highest-grossing animated film from Sony Pictures Animation, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation is celebrating another box office milestone after passing $500 million worldwide this past weekend.

The film, which is once again directed by Genndy Taratakovsky and features a voice cast that includes Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg and Selina Gomez, has grossed $165.3 million domestic, plus a further $337.8 million internationally, for a grand total of $503.1 million and counting.

Between its three instalments, the Hotel Transylvania franchise has grossed a combined $1.336 billion, and also spawned an animated spinoff series which has recently been renewed for a second season.

Hotel Transylvania 3 was one of two movies to hit the half billion dollar mark at the box office this weekend along with the Jason Statham prehistoric shark thriller The Meg.

In Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 3, join our favorite monster family as they embark on a vacation on a luxury monster cruise ship so Drac can take a summer vacation from providing everyone else’s vacation at the hotel. It’s smooth sailing for Drac’s Pack as the monsters indulge in all of the shipboard fun the cruise has to offer, from monster volleyball to exotic excursions, and catching up on their moon tans. But the dream vacation turns into a nightmare when Mavis realizes Drac has fallen for the mysterious captain of the ship, Ericka, who hides a dangerous secret that could destroy all of monsterkind.

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation features a voice cast that includes Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, David Spade, Steven Buscemi, Keegan-Michael Key, Molly Shannon, Fran Drescher and Mel Brooks.
