Rumoured details on Pedro Pascal’s villain role in Wonder Woman 1984

October 2, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah isn’t the only villain that Gal Gadot’s Amazon Princess is set to face in next year’s sequel Wonder Woman 1984, with Narcos and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal also on board to portray an as-yet-unconfirmed bad guy.

Last week, a report emerged from SuperBroMovies claiming that Pascal’s character would be instrumental in resurrecting Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor, and that it will turn out that he’s actually an evil god in disguise – a la Ares in the first Wonder Woman.

Well, the site has now posted an update to their story stating that the character isn’t actually a god, but is in fact Maxwell Lord – something that’s been heavily speculated upon since director Patty Jenkins shared the above first look photo of Pascal in the film.

The report goes on to claim that the movie’s take on Lord will be more “hammy” than his comic book counterpart, and that “his mission in the film is to become a god himself using any means necessary.”

Now, the fact that we’ve had two conflicting reports from the same outlet in the space of a few days doesn’t really generate much faith, it has to be said, so we should probably treat this one firmly as a rumour for the time being.

Wonder Woman 1984 sees Gal Gadot once again leading the cast as Diana Prince alongside the returning Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Ewen Bremner (Charlie), Said Taghmaoui (Sameer), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe), Doutzen Kroes (Venelia) and new additions Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters) as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah and Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), Natasha Rothwell (Love, Simon), Ravi Patel (Master of None, Grandfathered) and Gabriella Wilde (Doctor Who, Poldark) in an as-yet-unrevealed roles.
