Rebecca Ferguson, Lea Seydoux and Abbey Lee on shortlist for Gambit’s leading lady

August 7, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Originally published August 7, 2015. Updated April 14, 2018.

After last month’s on-off-on-again negotiations with star Channing Tatum (Magic Mike XXL), 20th Century Fox’s Marvel comic-book adaptation Gambit is now on the look out for its leading lady, Deadline reports.

Bella Donna Boudreaux is reportedly the role that those on the shortlist are vying for, a character who first appeared in X-Men Vol.2 #8 in 1992 and has mutant powers of her own. Lea Seydoux (Spectre) is said to be in contention for the part alongside Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation star Rebecca Ferguson and Mad Max: Fury Road’s Abbey Lee.

Rupert Wyatt (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) is directing the film, scripted by Josh Zemuter, and it is set to start filming later this year ready for its October 7th, 2016 release.
