Wonder Woman 1984 pushed back seven months to summer 2020

October 22, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Fans of Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince are going to have to wait a little longer to see the Amazon Princess back on the big screen as Warner Bros. has announced that the hotly-anticipated DC Films sequel Wonder Woman 1984 has been pushed back seven months and will now open on June 5th 2020.

“We had tremendous success releasing the first Wonder Woman film during the summer, so when we saw an opportunity to take advantage of the changing competitive landscape, we did,” said Warner Bros. president of domestic distribution Jeff Goldstein. “This move lands the film exactly where it belongs.”

Star Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins both took to Twitter to comment on the release date change…

Super excited to announce that, thanks to the changing landscape, we are able to put Wonder Woman back to its rightful home. June 5, 2020. Be there or be square!!!

This may well prove to be a smart move by Warner Bros., especially as the first Wonder Woman movie proved to be so successful in its June 2017 spot, grossing $412 million domestically and a bumper $822 million worldwide.
