The League of Extraordinary Gentelmen reboot will be female-centric

August 16, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Back in May it was revealed that 20th Century Fox is looking to reboot The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and now producer John Davis has suggested that the latest take on Alan Moore and Kevin O’Neill’s comic book series will be “female-centric”.

“Just by going back to the roots and making it authentic to what the fan base was really excited about,” said Davis when asked by Collider how they plan to make the adaptation work after the failure of the 2003 movie. “It’s female-centric, which I think is interesting. I love female characters, point-of-view characters in action movies. I thought Mad Max was great. I think you can always find a fresh way of doing something and going back to the basics. What is that people love? What is it that made them love the property in the first place?”

Aside from Mina Murray, there’s a distinct lack of females in the roster of the League, so it would seem likely that Mina will be the lead character in the film. And of course, there’s also the possibility that the producers could incorporate other female characters who aren’t present in Moore and O’Neill’s original comic book.
