Common isn’t returning for John Wick 3: Parabellum

November 12, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Although it was originally reported that he’d be reprising his John Wick: Chapter 2 role as Cassian for the upcoming third film, Common has now confirmed to Coming Soon that he won’t be appearing in next year’s hotly-anticipated John Wick 3: Parabellum.

“I’m not in the third part, but I could say that I really loved being a part of John Wick 2 and it was an amazing experience,” said Common. “Working with Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski, they’re just phenomenal. Challenged and really passionate about the stuff, and I can say that three is going to be incredible, though, I’ll tell you that much.”

While he’s absent from John Wick 3, Common can currently be seen alongside Gerard Butler and Gary Oldman in Hunter Killer and has The Kitchen and Eve on his upcoming slate.

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

John Wick 3: Parabellum is set for release on May 17th 2019 and reunites Keanu Reeves with director Chad Stahelski and also features returning cast members Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, and Lance Reddick alongside newcomers Hiroyuki Sanada (47 Ronin, The Wolverine), Anjelica Huston (Isle of Dogs), Halle Berry (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Asia Kate Dillon (Billions), Mark Dacascos (Lucky Day), Jason Mantzoukas (The House), Tiger Hu Chen (Man of Tai Chi) and The Raid’s Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman.
