Frozen co-director says sequel will be “bigger and more epic”

November 13, 2018 by Gary Collinson

During an appearance at the Ralph Breaks the Internet premiere in Los Angeles, Frozen co-director Jennifer Lee has provided a brief update on the hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2013 box office smash.

Lee told Variety that Frozen 2 will be “bigger and more epic” than its predecessor and that “[Elsa and Anna] are going to go far out of Arendelle.”

Lee, who was recently appointed as John Lasseter’s replacement as chief creative officer for Walt Disney Animation Studios, also teased a new musical number for the sequel, adding:

“We have a new song that I think is an evolution. It’s its own song… Bobby [Lopez] and Kristen [Anderson-Lopez] just delivered it three weeks ago. We’ve been working with them for two years and this song just came in and I love it.”

Frozen 2 is set for release on November 22nd 2019 and features the return of voice actors Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff as Anna, Elsa, Olaf and Kristoff, along with new cast additions Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld) and Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us).
