Chris Pine learned of Steve Trevor’s Wonder Woman 1984 return during production on the first movie

November 17, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

A few heads were scratched when was first rumoured that Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor would be returning for the sequel to Warner Bros. smash hit DC blockbuster Wonder Woman, and this turned to outright confusion when we got our first look at Steve in Wonder Woman 1984, looking pretty much identical to how he did prior to his death some seventy years earlier.

Steve’s return didn’t come as a surprise to Pine however, as the Outlaw King star has revealed to Radio 1 that director Patty Jenkins let him in on her plans during production on the first movie:

“Patty had told me this idea somewhere in the middle of the first one. And when Patty gets an idea, it’s a pretty powerful thing, because you can see the kernel land in the dirt and then all of a sudden it just starts growing and it becomes a tree… She can make you do anything.”

As yet, there’s been no official explanation as to how Steve finds himself alive in 1984, although there have been some rumours which – although unconfirmed – may potentially contain some spoilers. If you’re interested, you can read about it here.
