Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6 first look reveals Coulson’s successor

December 4, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Netflix might be cancelling Marvel shows left, right and centre, but given the recent renewal from ABC, we know we’ve got at least two more seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to look forward to, beginning with season six this coming summer.

As we saw in the season five finale, the ailing Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) retired from his position as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and left to live out his final days in Tahiti with Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), and now TV Line has revealed his successor – Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie, played by Henry Simmons.

“Personally, I love the challenge of being the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” states Simmons about his character’s new role. “Mack has worked side-by-side with the people he now leads, and that works to his advantage — he’s one of them. But the one thing that can hinder Mack’s ability to lead is his reluctance to put the people he loves in the line of danger. As a result, this may lead to Mack’s toughest decision as director. What sacrifices will be made?”

The thirteen-episode sixth season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to air on ABC in summer 2019.
