Patty Jenkins already has “pretty clear plans” for Wonder Woman 3

January 26, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

We may still be almost a year and a half out from the release of Wonder Woman 1984, but it seems that director Patty Jenkins already has one eye on a third instalment, with the filmmaker revealing to Vanity Fair that she has “pretty clear plans” as to how she’d like to round out her story for the Amazon Princess.

“I have pretty clear plans for Wonder Woman 3,” said Jenkins, who scored a major hit for the DC Extended Universe with the release of the first Wonder Woman movie in 2017. “Whether I [direct] it or not, I see how her arc should end in my incarnation of Wonder Woman. I have great passion for that.”

Of course, without seeing Wonder Woman 1984, it’s hard to speculate as to where Jenkins could be looking to take the third instalment and whether this might bring Gal Gadot’s Diana into the present day, or take place prior to her DCEU debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Wonder Woman 1984 sees Gal Gadot once again leading the cast as Diana Prince alongside the returning Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Ewen Bremner (Charlie), Said Taghmaoui (Sameer), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe), Doutzen Kroes (Venelia) and new additions Kristen Wiig (Ghostbusters) as Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah and Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), Natasha Rothwell (Love, Simon), Ravi Patel (Master of None, Grandfathered) and Gabriella Wilde (Doctor Who, Poldark) in an as-yet-unrevealed roles. It is set for release on June 5th 2020.
