Doctor Sleep release date brought forward to November of this year

January 31, 2019 by Gary Collinson

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting Doctor Sleep, the upcoming big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s sequel to The Shining, then you’ll be happy to hear that Warner Bros. has announced it is bringing forward the release of the film.

Originally scheduled to arrive on January 24th 2020, the film – directed by Mike Flanagan (Gerald’s Game) – is now set to open on November 8th of this year, where it will go up against Paramount’s Sonic the Hedgehog movie, Roland Emmerich’s WWII movie Midway, and an untitled Universal comedy.

Doctor Sleep follows the now-adult Danny Torrance (Jack Torrance’s son from The Shining), who is now working a hospice using his psychic abilities to provide comfort to dying patients as he looks to put the events at the Overlook Hotel behind him. However, he soon finds himself pitted against the True Knot, a psychic cult which feeds on the “steam” created by children possessing the shining.
