BB-8 wraps filming on Star Wars: Episode IX

February 2, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

Earlier in the week Star Wars mainstay Anthony Daniels announced that he has wrapped filming on his role as C-3PO in December’s Star Wars: Episode IX, and now we have word that another droid has finished up work on the next instalment of the saga.

Posting on Twitter, puppeteer Brian Herring has revealed that all of BB-8’s scenes are now in the can, with Herring expressing his gratitude over getting to “live the dream” with five years of working on Disney’s Star Wars Sequel Trilogy.

Today was a wrap on BB-8. The last 5 years have been an amazing ride. Thanks to @jjabrams, Kathleen, Neal, #teamBB8 especially Dave and the entire cast & crew for the time of my life. Few people get to live the dream. Thank you. #StarWars #IX #puppeteer #BB8 #StarWarsEpisodeIX pic.twitter.com/Oxa8n1oHu2

Episode IX has been shooting under director J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) since this past summer, with Disney and Lucasfilm doing a solid job of keeping things tightly under wraps. As production wraps up, we can presumably expect to get our first glimpse at Episode IX in the next few months, with April’s Star Wars Celebration Chicago likely a good bet for the trailer and title reveal.
