Gotham’s Robin Lord Taylor has a small but important role in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum

February 8, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

During an appearance at the Television Critics Association winter press tour to promote the fifth season of Gotham, actor Robin Lord Taylor (who plays Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin in the Batman prequel series) has revealed that he has a small but important role in the upcoming action thriller sequel John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

“In the hiatus, between season four and season five, I had one day on John Wick, just their very first day of principal photography…. I don’t want to say too much but it’s definitely an important person in that world. I get no guns in John Wick. Again, it’s a very, very small episode and I was actually freaked out about telling people about it. Oftentimes with big movies like that, you can end up on the floor in the editing bay. From what I hear, I’m still in it. I took the character in a physical dimension that was different for me so I’m very excited for people to see. It’s very iconic.”

Taylor’s listing on the IMDb states that his character is called The Administrator, leading to speculation that he could be portraying one of the members of the High Table, or some kind of administrative figure for The Continental. And speaking of The Continental, Taylor also went on to state that he’d be delighted to reprise his role in the TV spinoff in the works at Starz:

“That would be amazing. It’s so funny too because in that universe, as I’m sure you know, every minor character means something. Everyone is very connected in that world so yeah, the guy I’m playing, who knows?”

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is set for release on May 17th 2019 and reunites Keanu Reeves with director Chad Stahelski and also features returning cast members Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, and Lance Reddick alongside newcomers Hiroyuki Sanada (47 Ronin, The Wolverine), Anjelica Huston (Isle of Dogs), Halle Berry (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Asia Kate Dillon (Billions), Mark Dacascos (Lucky Day), Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), Jason Mantzoukas (The House), Tiger Hu Chen (Man of Tai Chi), Robin Lord Taylor (Gotham) and The Raid’s Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman.
