Zack Snyder thanks Ben Affleck for blessing Batman “with that f*cking glorious chin”

February 19, 2019 by Gary Collinson

After the best part of two years of rumour and speculation, it was finally confirmed last month that Ben Affleck has decided to hang up the cape and cowl, stepping down from the role of the DC Extended Universe’s Dark Knight as he makes way for a young actor in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Affleck was brought into the DCEU by Zack Snyder, who cast him as the Caped Crusader’s for 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the two then reuniting for Justice League until Snyder’s departure from the DC team-up during post-production.

Posting on his Vero account, Snyder has now paid tribute to Affleck’s portrayal, hailing him as the “best Batman ever” and thanking him for “blessing me with that fucking glorious chin.”

In the weeks since Affleck’s exit, there hasn’t been any credible casting reports regarding his successor as Batman, with a report from Revenge of the Fans claiming that Armie Hammer is in “final talks” swiftly debunked by numerous other outlets, and the actor himself.

How do you rate Ben Affleck’s Batman next to the other actors who’ve portrayed the Dark Knight Detective? And who would be your pick to take over the role? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @FlickeringMyth…
