Alan Tudyk to voice Iago in Aladdin, much to Gilbert Gottfried’s annoyance

March 16, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

While we’re yet to hear the character in any of the marketing, Disney has announced that Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) will be lending his voice to Iago in director Guy Ritchie’s live-action Aladdin remake.

The character, an obnoxious, loud-mouthed parrot sidekick to the villainous Jafar was voiced by Gilbert Gottfried in the 1992 animated movie (and its two straight-to-video sequels). And it seems Gottfried isn’t too happy that he hasn’t been brought back for the live-action feature, with the actor taking to Twitter to retweet fans who’ve been expressing their disappointment over the recasting:

Are you disappointed that Gottfried won’t be back as Iago, or are you looking forward to Tudyk’s take on the character? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @FlickeringMyth…
