Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story adds Corey Stoll and Brian d’Arcy James

March 24, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Steven Spielberg continues to assemble the cast for his upcoming remake of the classic musical West Side Story, with Corey Stoll (First Man) and Brian d’Arcy James (Spotlight) have signed on to appear in the movie.

THR reports that Stoll is set to portray Lieutenant Schrank, “the New York City detective charged with quelling civic unrest in his racially divided precinct”. Meanwhile dʼArcy James will portray Sergeant Krupke, “a veteran cop whose beat includes the territories of the Sharks and the Jets”.

Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver) and newcomer Rachel Zegler are set to portray the star-crossed lovers Tony and Maria, while the cast also includes Rita Moreno (Valentina), Ariana DeBose (Anita), David Alvarez (Bernardo) and Josh Andrés Rivera (Chino).
