Halle Berry demanded to be in John Wick 3 before the script was even written

March 27, 2019 by Samuel Brace

It has been revealed that Halle Berry demanded to be in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum before the script was even written.

John Wick has quickly become one of the most beloved action franchises in recent movie history, showcasing Keanu Reeve’s talents in the genre once more and delighting fans with high octane action in an interesting universe.

It’s not just fans that are into the franchise, however, as Halle Berry demanded to be given a role in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum before the script had even been written. Explaining the situation to EW, director Chad Stahelski said:

“It was right before the holidays [in 2017]. I got a call saying, ‘Halle Berry would like to meet with you.’ I was like, ‘That’s cool.’ I’d never met her before. She came to my offices in Manhattan Beach the next day, walked right in, sat down, goes, ‘I want a part in John Wick 3.’ I’m like, ‘Well, that’s very flattering, but we don’t have a script yet.’ She said, ‘I don’t care.’ I’m like, ‘Well, I don’t even know if there’s a female [part].’ She goes, ‘I don’t care, I want to be in it, let’s party.'”

Well, sometimes, if you don’t ask, you don’t get! It worked for Berry, of course, as the actress can now be in the upcoming third chapter. Are you looking forward to the next John Wick movie?

John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is set for release on May 17th 2019 and reunites Keanu Reeves with director Chad Stahelski and also features returning cast members Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, and Lance Reddick alongside newcomers Hiroyuki Sanada (47 Ronin, The Wolverine), Anjelica Huston (Isle of Dogs), Halle Berry (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Asia Kate Dillon (Billions), Mark Dacascos (Lucky Day), Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones), Jason Mantzoukas (The House), Tiger Hu Chen (Man of Tai Chi), Robin Lord Taylor (Gotham) and The Raid’s Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman.
