Action sequel London Has Fallen receives second US delay

September 17, 2015 by Tom Beasley

Britain-set action sequel London Has Fallen has been dealt another blow as its release date in the USA has been postponed for the second time.

The sequel to 2013 blockbuster Olympus Has Fallen was initially set for a release in autumn of this year, but was subsequently moved to January 2016.

Now, according to a report from Deadline Hollywood, the Gerard Butler (How to Train Your Dragon) actioner will not grace American screens until March 4th.

This would position the film at a similar time to the release of its predecessor, which became a surprise hit after grossing nearly $100m in the US alone.

The story begins in London, where the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the western world. However, what starts out as the most protected event on Earth turns into a deadly plot to kill the world’s most powerful leaders, devastate every known landmark in the British capital, and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. Only three people have any hope of stopping it: the President of the United States, his formidable Secret Service head (Gerard Butler), and an English MI-6 agent who rightly trusts no one.

London Has Fallen is directed by Babak Najafi (Sebbe) and also stars Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight), Morgan Freeman (Ted 2, Angela Bassett (American Horror Story, Melissa Leo (The Fighter), Robert Forster (Survivor) and Jackie Earle Haley (A Nightmare on Elm Street). The film is still set for release on January 22nd 2016 in the UK.
