Captain Marvel was going to feature a comic book accurate Supreme Intelligence

June 4, 2019 by Gary Collinson

The Supreme Intelligence made its debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year in Captain Marvel, although rather than a giant, floating green head, the AI ruler took on a physical form – that of the person most admired by whoever it’s talking to (which in the case of Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, was Annette Bening’s Mar-Vell).

However, speaking to Comic Book, the film’s production designer Andy Nicholson has revealed that a comic book accurate version of the character was set to appear at one point, and would have appeared during the scene where Carol removes the Photon Inhibitor limiting her powers.

“It was there. We did develop a line where within that space from the big pool of water in the back of the room, that eventually, that’s where the big green head would come out of. I think eventually for the final scene of the movie, it would’ve taken away from what was the core focus which was, it would’ve been a big spectacle which would’ve overwhelmed the main thrust of what we were doing which was talking about Carol’s development and transformation into Captain Marvel.”
