Anthony Daniels accepts that C-3PO will continue without him after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

November 5, 2019 by Liam Waddington

Star Wars veteran Anthony Daniels is seemingly open and accepting to the idea of another actor continuing on the legacy of C-3PO after he bows out following Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

While promoting his recent autobiography I am C-3PO: The Inside Story in an interview with the RadioTimes, Daniels acknowledged the character may go on without him and accepts that C-3PO is “too good of a character, too big of a character, to die with me.”

“I surely recognize, I will someday leave the stage,” Daniels reads from his book’s final chapter. “I hope I will do so in the knowledge that I have imbued See-Threepio with enough life that, with the love of the fans, he will go on without me.”

Daniels continues by stating he is open to the character moving forward without him.

“Yes, I quite countenance that,” Daniels said. “There are people wandering around Disney theme parks, dressed in rather better suits than mine. They seem to move a lot more easily.

“I absolutely admit and accept that. And quite right: he is too good of a character, too big of a character, to die with me. And Disney paid a lot of money for him! You know what I mean? They’ve got to get their money back somehow.”

Daniels will be the only actor to appear in all episodic instalments beginning with 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope and ending with 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
