Comic Book Review – The Walking Dead: Michonne Special #1

January 21, 2014 by admin

Robb Ghag reviews The Walking Dead: Michonne Special #1…

“This special issue of THE WALKING DEAD presents THE WALKING DEAD #19, featuring the first appearance of Michonne as well as the Michonne origin story that first appeared in Playboy Magazine.”

Sunday February 9th, 2014 is when The Walking Dead returns to AMC.  If you can’t wait to get your fix, definitely pick up the Michonne Special issue of the The Walking Dead.

Not much had been revealed about Michonne in previous issues, but in this one shot special, Robert Kirkman sheds light on which Michonne was, as well as who her two “biter” bodyguards were.

It’s incredible to see that even after all of the issues and some of the major moments of the book, we still don’t know who Michonne is before the walking dead.  All we really know is how she’s survived, and that if there was anyone Rick would want to have his back in a fight, it would be her.

One of the best parts of the issue is learning where Michonne gets her samurai sword from, and it even tells a bit of its history.  On top of all this we see who actually killed Dexter during the zombie attack, and how Rick ultimately deals with his death.

Considering what a mainstay of a character Michonne has become, it was worthwhile to see where she came from, even if the whole story has yet to be told.
