J.J. Abrams on whether he could direct or produce a Superman movie

December 19, 2019 by Samuel Brace

J.J. Abrams, the director of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, has discussed the chances of him directing a Superman movie.

J.J. Abrams was the man Lucasfilm went to when they wanted to bring back Star Wars to the big screen and the filmmaker certainly succeeded in introducing the franchise to a new generation of fans with The Force Awakens.

But could he do the same for the DC universe and, in particular, Superman? Recent rumours have linked Abrams – who previously penned the unused script for Superman: Flyby in the early 2000s – with the famous hero but what are the chances he actually gets involved with the franchise? Well, he said the following to Screen Rant:

“I have not had one official conversation with Warner Bros at all about this, but people have asked me this question. I know that because Bad Robot recently signed a deal with Warner Media, we will begin in earnest all discussions about what’s coming next. But I know no more than you do about what’s next, certainly [not] in terms of DC.”

Well, it certainly seems like it’s at least a possibility, and Abrams’ involvement with DC and other WB properties is surely something to keep an eye on. Would you like to see J.J. Abrams tackling Superman? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @FlickeringMyth…
