Dan Stevens joins monster movie Colossal

October 27, 2015 by Luke Owen

Originally published October 27, 2015. Updated April 15, 2018.

The cast of Nacho Vigalondo’s Colossal is starting to take shape, as ComingSoon are reporting that Dan Stevens (The Guest) has been cast to star alongside Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises).

Colossal met some legal issues earlier in the year, when Japanese studio Toho threatened action against Vigalondo for promoting the film as a “Godzilla movie”.

Described as “Godzilla meets Lost in Translation“, Colossal will see Hathaway as Gloria, “an ordinary woman who after losing her job and her fiancé (Stevens), decides to leave her life in New York to move back to her hometown. But when news reports surface that a giant lizard is destroying the city of Tokyo, Gloria gradually comes to realize that she is strangely connected to these far-off events via the power of her mind. In order to prevent further destruction, Gloria needs to determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.”

No word yet on a release date.
