American Dad! renewed for two more seasons at TBS

January 16, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Seth MacFarlane may be heading to NBCUniversal with his bumper new deal, but TBS has ensured that American Dad! is going nowhere, with the network granting a two season renewal to its top-rated adult animated comedy series, which will include the show’s landmark 300th episode.

“After these next two seasons, we will have over 300 episodes. Thus proving that whatever American Dad! lacks in quality, we make up for in quantity,” said co-creator and co-showrunner Matt Weitzman, with co-showrunner Brian Boyle adding: “So turnt up to be picked up for two years! Making the show for TBS has been a dream because they are easily satisfied with the best!”

“American Dad! has achieved an incredible milestone,” said Brett Weitz, General Manager for TNT, TBS, & truTV. “Matt and Brian are brilliant writers who consistently overdeliver on big comedy and even bigger absurdity. We look forward to continuing the momentum by giving devoted fans two more seasons of the Smith family.”

Co-created by MacFarlane, Weitzman and Mike Barker, American Dad! revolves around the Smith family, headed up by super-patriotic CIA Agent Stan Smith (MacFarlane). The series originally premiered on FOX back in 2005 before moving to TBS in 2014, and aired its sixteenth season last year.
