Bad Boys For Life writer scripting National Treasure 3

January 19, 2020 by Gary Collinson

It looks like the long-awaited National Treasure 3 may finally be picking up some steam, as Variety is reporting that Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have tapped Bad Boys For Life screenwriter Chris Bremner to write the script.

The first two National Treasure movies, released in 2004 and 2007, were directed by Jon Turteltaub and starred Nicolas Cage as Benjamin Franklin Gates, a treasure hunter tracking hidden artefacts and secrets from throughout U.S. history. Cage was joined in the cast of both films by Justin Bartha, Diane Kruger, Harvey Keitel, Armando Riesco and Jon Voight, and the two moves grossed over $800 million combined.

Last year, Disney’s Bob Iger revealed that discussions about National Treasure 3 had been ongoing since around 2016, and that “We love those first two films, but we’re not quite there yet.”

Hopefully, with Bremner now on board to work on the script, it won’t be too long before things start coming together.
