Deadline is reporting that Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries) has signed on to appear in 20th Century Fox’s War for the Planet of the Apes, where she’ll portray a new ape character.

The third chapter of Fox’s relaunched Apes franchise will reunite Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves with stars Andy Serkis (Caesar) and Judy Greer (Cornelia), while other new additions include Woody Harrelson, Gabriel Chavarria, and Steve Zahn.
War for the Planet of the Apes is scheduled for release on July 14th, 2017 in the US and July 21st, 2017 in the UK.
