Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker reportedly features an audio cameo from George Lucas

February 4, 2020 by Samuel Brace

George Lucas, creator of Star Wars, reportedly has an audio cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is now on the backend of its theatrical run, having crossed $1 billion worldwide and surpassed the total haul of Rogue One. The film is packed with surprise moments, lore, and Easter Eggs but did you know that one of them might involve George Lucas?

The creator of the franchise reportedly has an audio cameo in the film where he can be heard screaming. Clayton Sandell reports the following for Good Morning America:

“The Rise of Skywalker, sources tell ABC News, also contains a deep audio Easter egg: a scream that is actually the voice of Star Wars creator George Lucas. The clip, affectionately called ‘The George,’ was originally recorded for the director’s 1973 film American Graffiti. It has appeared in several movies, including Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”

Sandell tried to confirm with Episode IX sound designers David Acord and Matt Wood but they refused to confirm or deny the cameo.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker sees J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), and Keri Russell (The Americans).
