Star Wars: The Clone Wars creator says Ahsoka could still be alive after The Rise of Skywalker

February 21, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Dave Filoni, the creator of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, says that Ahsoka may still be alive after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

One of the most memorable moments of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was certainly when voices of numerous Jedi of the past spoke to Rey through the force, lending her their power to defeat Darth Sidious.

Ahsoka, the beloved Jedi-padawan of Anakin Skywalker, known mostly for her feats in The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels, has a cameo in Episode IX as one of these voices. Many assumed that this meant Ahsoka was dead, as the other Jedi voices seemed to be reaching out to Rey from beyond the grave.

However, creator of The Clone Wars, Dave Filoni, says this isn’t necessarily the case. Speaking to io9, he said: “I have to wonder with Star Wars fans. They seem to watch the movies but they don’t take all the lessons. They deal a lot in absolutes, which is very much a Sith thing. I remember in The Empire Strikes Back Luke speaking out through the force to Leia. Vader also does this at the end of Empire Strikes Back. There’s no absoluteness that these people are dead. I mean, some of them we know are dead.”

This is certainly a good reminder that Ahsoka could certainly just have reached out with the force from somewhere in the galaxy to speak to Rey. We will, of course, get to see Ahsoka in season 7 of The Clone Wars but will have to wait to see if she does in fact still live after Episode IX.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker sees J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), and Keri Russell (The Americans).
