“Cap” is back in set photo from Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

February 28, 2020 by Amie Cranswick

Steve Rogers may have passed on the shield to Sam Wilson at the end of Avengers: Endgame, but it seems Falcon won’t be the next iteration of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as that honour looks set to fall to John Walker, played by MCU newcomer Wyatt Russell, in Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Check out the below photo from the set of the series, which shows a propaganda poster declaring that “Cap is back”…

As we saw in the Super Bowl TV spot for Marvel’s Disney+ shows, Walker (a.k.a. U.S. Agent and Super Patriot in the Marvel comic books) was shown dressed in Captain America attire and carrying the shield as he attempted some sort of celebration, which is presumably the new government-approved Cap’s unveiling to the general public. Quite how that will sit with Sam and Bucky remains to be seen, but we’ll find out this August when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier arrives on Disney+.

Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is set to premiere on Disney+ in August and features a cast that includes MCU veterans Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter), Daniel Bruhl (Zemo) and new additions Wyatt Russell (Overlord), Carl Lumbly (Doctor Sleep), Adepero Oduye (The Big Short), Desmond Chiam (Now Apocalypse), Miki Ishikawa (The Terror: Infamy) and Noah Mills (The Brave).
