Horror film Anything For Jackson wraps production

April 6, 2020 by Ricky Church

With many productions getting cancelled or delayed recently, it’s always nice to hear a project having reached completion. The Canadian horror film Anything For Jackson announced it completed principal photography and is set for a fall release. The film stars Sheila McCarthy (The Umbrella Academy), Julian Richings (Supernatural) and Yannick Bisson (Murdoch Mysteries) from director Justin Dyck (Christmas with a Prince).

The synopsis for the film reads:

After losing their only grandson in a car accident, grief-stricken Audrey (Sheila McCarthy) and Henry (Julian Richings), a doctor, kidnaps his pregnant patient with the intentions of performing a “reverse Exorcism”, putting Jackson inside her un-born child. It doesn’t take long to figure out Jackson isn’t the only ghost the grandparents invited into their home. Now it’s a race against time for the couple, as well as the pregnant woman to figure a way out of the haunting they’ve set upon them-selves.

Anything for Jackson comes from Vortex Words + Pictures and was written by Keith Cooper (Christmas with a Prince). It will be produced by Dyck, Cooper, Vortex’s Bill Marks, Christopher Giroux with executive producers Jesse Ikeman, Justin Rebelo and Audrey Cummings. The film will premiere first on Canada’s Super ChannelFuse in the fall with A71 Releasing handling worldwide distribution.

“Vortex pictures supports artists, and I’m elated to be working with them,” said Dyck. “From day one, Bill Marks and his entire team has trusted us to tell this story our way while simultaneously offering us unlimited support and advice based on years of experience. The entire cast and crew attached to this project is beyond incredible and gives me the ultimate confidence as I enter the horror world for the first time as a director. We’re setting out to put a new spin on a favorite genre and I can’t wait to share this film with the world.”

“We are excited to be working with Vortex films and the team at A71 to bring this unique film to fans of the horror genre on Super Channel Fuse,” said Super Channel’s Jack Pardy. “It has all the elements that are sure to make it a fan-favourite with this audience.”

“It’s a bumper year at Vortex, and it’s incredibly cool to have this team together for Anything For Jackson,” said Marks. “Keith and Justin are exactly the kind of filmmakers we are always wanting to work with, and the cast is a complete dream team!”
