Sony moving ahead with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo sequel, Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig won’t return

November 4, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Back in April it was revealed that Sony was looking at ways to continue its Millennium franchise following David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and now it seems the studio has made up its mind.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Steven Knight (Burnt) is in early talks to adapt the fourth book in the series, The Girl in the Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz. Apparently the new project is seen as an opportunity to restart the franchise, with neither Fincher nor stars Rooney Mara or Daniel Craig expected to return.

Spider’s Web could then potentially be followed by an adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s second book The Girl Who Played With Fire, with Sony having already paid a mid-seven figure sum for Steven Zaillian’s script.

Are you excited about another Millennium movie, and how do you feel about Sony’s decision to relaunch the series?
