New The Last of Us Part II trailer reveals gameplay and more story

May 6, 2020 by EJ Moreno

Following online leaks and a polarizing fan reaction, The Last of Us Part II just dropped a brand new trailer and confirmed the upcoming release date. With sequel game finally ready to drop this June, this new footage sheds new light on the sequel.

In a post-pandemic world that transformed many of the infected into monsters, The Last of Us Part II picks up five years after Joel, our grizzled lead, smuggled a young girl who is immune to the disease out of his city to meet with a group of rebels.

Now, with time passing, Joel and Ellie settle down in Jackson, Wyoming. The now grown-up Ellie has even found love. But of course, nothing stays perfect. Based on the trailer below, it seems some very hostile outsiders attacked the group, setting Ellie on a mission of vengeance.

This new look at the upcoming game comes after developer Naughty Dog revealed a new release date for the game following leaks that exposed some of the core plot points of Part II. “It’s disappointing to see the release and sharing of pre-release footage from development,” the team said. “Do your best to avoid spoilers, and we ask that you don’t spoil it for others.”

“No matter what you see and hear,” they added, “the final experience will be worth it.”

The Last of Us Part II comes to Playstation 4 on June 19th…
