The Batman star says the Batmobile was one of the script’s most exciting elements

September 1, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Jeffrey Wright, one of the stars of The Batman, says that the Batmobile was one of the script’s most exciting components.

A key component of any new take on Batman is the Batmobile. We have had many different versions of Bruce Wayne’s favourite car and Matt Reeves’ The Batman is set to debut another.

We have seen glimpses of the intriguing looking vehicle so far but according to Jim Gordon actor Jeffrey Wright, the Batmobile is actually one of the script’s most exciting elements.

Speaking to SiriusXM, the actor said: “[O]ne of the aspects of the script that I was really stoked about was the Batmobile, the way it was described. It was described as this kind of retro, hyper-hemified muscle car, that was just the craziest, coolest thing you’d ever seen. And when I read that I said ‘A ha, yes.’”

Wright’s description certainly seems to match up with what we have seen of the vehicle so far. It’s going to be great fun to see it in action and the problems it poses for Batman’s foes in the battles to come.

The Batman sees Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse) donning the cape and cowl as Bruce Wayne/Batman alongside Zoe Kravitz (Big Little Lies) as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano (Escape at Dannemora) as The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Alfred Pennyworth, John Turturro (The Big Lebowski) as Carmine Falcone, Alex Ferns (Chernobyl) as Commissioner Pete Savage, Con O’Neill (Ordinary Lies) as Chief Mackenzie Bock, Peter Sarsgaard (The Killing) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson, Barry Keoghan (Dunkirk) as Officer Stanley Merkel and Jayme Lawson (Farewell Amor) as Bella Real.
