Stephen King series Mr. Mercedes moves to Peacock streaming service

September 21, 2020 by Ricky Church

NBC’s streaming service Peacock has picked up the rights to AT&T Audience Network’s Stephen King-inspired series Mr. Mercedes with the series’ first two seasons moving onto the service on Thursday, October 15th.

The series came from producer David E. Kelly and followed retired detective Bill Hodges as he searched for the elusive serial killer known as Mr. Mercedes. The series, inspired from Stephen King’s trilogy of novels, starred Brendan Gleeson (Bill Hodges), Harry Treadaway (Brady Hartsfield), Justine Lupe (Holly Gibney), Jharrel Jerome (Jerome Robinson), Breeda Wool (Lou Linklatter), Holland Taylor (Ida Silver) and Bruce Dern (John Rothstein).

Despite the move onto Peacock, there is no word on whether Mr. Mercedes may continue for a fourth season. The series aired its third season last year and that will move to Peacock on a later date.

When beloved local author John Rothstein is found murdered, Hodges, Holly, and Jerome, along with local police, must track down his killer. But this case is more complex than the cold-blooded killing of an American icon. Unpublished novels of Rothstein’s were stolen from his home, and they are worth millions. As the case unfolds, the trio learns that although Brady may be gone, his depravity lives on in the lives of his victims.
