Worms celebrates its 25th birthday

November 17, 2020 by Andrew Newton

Industry veterans Team17 are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their most iconic franchise, Worms.  First released on the Commodore Amiga back on 17th November 1995, Worms became an instant hit and has since seen releases on countless consoles, computers and mobile platforms spanning many hardware generations.  To celebrate this momentous milestone there’s huge discounts on Worms games on the brand new Team17 store.

I remember reading the review in the Amiga computer magazine The One at the time and getting Worms based on the brilliant review.  Unlike many game reviews of the time this one was telling the truth and when it promised long-term entertainment they weren’t lying and the franchise has continued to provide a huge amount of fun throughout the years, as it has with many people.

The brand new Team17 Store is currently offering discounts of up to 80% on a wide selection of Worms games and bundles of other games with even greater savings.  On top of that there’s even an additional 10% discount code available via Team17’s social media channels.  Best be quick though as this celebratory discount is only available until 24th November.

“For a long time, Worms has been at the very heart of Team17. Even now, years into a successful period as a games publishing label, the battling critters remain an important part of our DNA. It’s a series loved by gamers of all ages for decades, with an enduring appeal even when it’s explored and played with new experiences. Watching the series develop over the years has been a wonderful journey to share with one of the most passionate and vocal communities in gaming. Here’s to another 25 years of Worms!” Debbie Bestwick MBE, Chief Executive Officer, Team17.

Happy Birthday Worms and thanks to Team17 for 25 glorious years of Holy Hand Grenades, exploding sheep and falling donkeys.  And just think, all this annelida slaughtering entertainment started life as ‘Total Wormage’ , the brainchild of creator Andy Davidson.

Look out for the Worms’ next outing in Worms Rumble coming 1st December.
