Anthony Mackie to star in Netflix thriller The Ogun

November 29, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having worked with the streamer on the likes of Black Mirror, Altered Carbon and Point Blank, Anthony Mackie is set to reunite with Netflix for the new thriller movie The Ogun.

As reported by THR, Mackie will produce the movie and star as Xavier Rhodes , a man “who brings his teenage daughter to Nigeria to find a cure for the rare genetic condition that he passed on to her. When his daughter is kidnapped, Rhodes goes on a rampage through the criminal underworld to find her before it’s too late, testing his powerful abilities to the limit.”

Described as being “tonally in the vein of John Wick crossed with Dante’s Inferno”, The Ogun has been scripted by stuntman-turned-screenwriter Madison Turner. As yet, no director is attached.

Mackie will next be seen reprising his role as Sam Wilson in Marvel’s Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and also stars alongside Amy Adams, Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore and his Falcon and the Winter Soldier co-star Wyatt Russell in Joe Wright’s The Woman in the Window. Both were set to arrive this year, but are currently without release dates due to the ongoing pandemic.
