Captain Marvel and No Time To Die star Lashana Lynch has been cast as Miss Honey in Netflix’s upcoming feature film version of the Roald Dahl stage adaptation Matilda the Musical.
The movie reunites the stage musical’s director Matthew Warchus and Tony Award-winning writer Dennis Kelly. The role of Matilda is yet to be cast.
Published in 1988, Matilda follows a highly intelligent young girl with the gift of telekinesis who finds a kindred spirit in her teacher, Miss Honey, at a school run by the abusive headmistress Miss Trunchbull. It was previously adapted for the big screen in 1996, while the Olivier and Tony Award-winning stage musical launched in 2011.
British actress Lynch will next be seen in the long-delayed Bond film No Time To Die, where she portrays the character of Nomi, MI-6’s new Agent 007.
