Marvel’s Kevin Feige discusses Spider-Man 3 rumours and casting reports

January 13, 2021 by Gary Collinson

It’s certainly no surprise when a Marvel movie – or any big fan-focussed project, for that matter – finds itself the subject of rumour and speculation, but things have really went into overdrive when it comes to the as-yet-untitled Spider-Man 3.

We know that the multiverse set to play a significant role in the sequel, as confirmed by Marvel announcing its links to WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As such we’ve had a whole host of reports and rumours ranging from the casting of former Spidey villains like Jamie Foxx (Electro) and Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus) to the inclusion of past wall-crawlers Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield and the return of just about every single character from previous Spider-Man movies ever.

Looking at the variety of outlets dropping said reports – from ever-reliable sources and trades to the not-so-reliable – it will come as little surprise to hear that Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has acknowledged that some of the reporting is accurate, while other claims are completely wide of the mark.

“I’ve read some things. I’m not sure I’ve read all things,” said Feige in an interview with Comic Book. “The fun thing about online speculation when it comes to our stuff is how sometimes it couldn’t be more off the mark and sometimes it’s shockingly close, and that’s held true for the last few years. But saying which is which would take all the fun out of everything.”

What are your theories and predictions on Spider-Man 3? Do you think we’ll see Garfield and Maguire’s Peter Parkers joining up with Tom Holland’s? Will we get a version of The Sinister Six? Let us know your thoughts on our social channels @FlickeringMyth…

The Untitled Spider-Man Sequel is slated for release on December 17th 2021 and sees Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home) directing Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Zendaya (MJ), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), and Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson).
