Marwan Kenzari to play the villain in Dwayne Johnson’s DCEU film Black Adam

February 17, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Known for stealing scenes in The Old Guard and camping it up in the Aladdin remake, Marwan Kenzari will join the DC Extended Universe as The Hollywood Reporter has broken the story that Kenzari is entering final negotiations for a role in the upcoming Black Adam movie.

There are no official details yet regarding Kenzari’s role in the film, but some sources have reported that he’ll play the DC comics villain Sabbac who will be the film’s antagonist. Sabbac first made his debut in 1954 and has been a foe in the world of Shazam and Black Adam ever since.

Kenzari is joining an already stacked cast of hot up and coming actors, including Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, and Quintessa Swindell. Hodge will tackle the role of Hawkman, Netflix darling Centineo is playing Atom Smasher, and Swindell will play Cyclone. Dwayne Johnson will headline the film as the titular anti-hero, Black Adam, with Sarah Shahi as love interest Adrianna Tomaz.

The Shallows and Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra will helm the project, reuniting him with Johnson, who stars in the upcoming Jungle Cruise. Johnson will also serve as a producer with Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia under Seven Bucks Productions

Black Adam is set to open on July 30th, 2021.
