Jeremy Irvine to play Alan Scott in HBO Max’s Green Lantern series

May 20, 2021 by Gary Collinson

It seems that Jeremy Irvine (War Horse, Treadstone) is set to become the Green Lantern Corps’ newest recruit, with Deadline reporting that the actor is in talks to join the cast of HBO Max’s Green Lantern series.

Should a deal be reached, Irvine will take on the role of Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern, who made his DC Comics debut in All-American Comics #16 way back in 1940 during the Golden Age. He’ll join the previously announced Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story), who was cast as fellow Green Lantern Guy Gardner last month.

The series, which has been written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Seth Grahame-Smith, is said to reinvent Green Lantern “through a story spanning decades and galaxies, beginning on Earth in 1941 with the very first Green Lantern, secretly gay FBI agent Alan Scott (Irvine), and 1984, with cocky alpha male Guy Gardner (Wittrock) and half-alien Bree Jarta.”

We’re still awaiting casting news for Bree Jarta, along with the “multitude” of other Lanterns which DC and HBO Max have said the series will feature.
