Liam Neeson to produce Unknown sequel series for television

June 30, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

While Liam Neeson continues to churn out his own sub-genre of steadily paced, indistinguishable action vehicles (read our ★★ review of his latest effort The Ice Road here) he has teamed up with Jaume Collet-Serra to produce a small screen spin-off of their 2011 hit Unknown for TNT.

According to Deadline the latter-day action hero will produce the hour-long series, with Jungle Cruise helmer Collet-Serra set to direct. The two have worked together on Non-Stop, Run All Night, and The Commuter, while Unknown remains one of their biggest hits, having scored $135M at the worldwide box-office off of a $30M budget.

Unknown told the story of Martin Harris (Neeson), a doctor who lost his memory after a car accident and woke up to find his identity taken and the target of mysterious assassins. The series will supposedly pick up after the events of the film, but “follow a new lead character that is thrust into a mind-bending adventure full of twists and turns.”
