Venom: Let There Be Carnage delayed again

August 12, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Fans looking forward to Venom: Let There Be Carnage will have to wait a few more weeks. The film hit by so many delays during the pandemic has one more, but fortunately this time it’s only for a few weeks.

Today, it has been revealed that Venom 2 is being pushed from September 24th to October 15th. Many sources, including THR, note that this comes “amid a surge in COVID-19 cases due in large part to the Delta variant.” In a recent study, polling from the National Research Group showed that consumer confidence has plummeted from a pandemic-era high of 81% on July 11 to 66 percent as of Monday. Studios usually see anything below 71% as a cause of worry.

This marks the second major delay due to the Delta variant as Paramount’s Clifford the Big Red Dog was pushed back a few weeks ago. Sony was seemingly preparing for this delay as the recently trailer only said coming “this fall”. Can this be the start of another wave of delays? Only time will tell, but Venom: Let There Be Carnage will now come closer to Halloween.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage sees Andy Serkis (Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle) directing returning Venom cast members Tom Hardy (Eddie Brock/Venom), Michelle Williams (Anne Weying), Woody Harrelson (Cletus Kasady/Carnage), and Reid Scott (Dr. Dan Lewis), alongside new additions Naomie Harris (No Time To Die) and Stephen Graham (The Irishman).

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is set for release in the UK on September 15th and North America on October 13th.
