Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Letitia Wright hospitalized after suffering injury on set

August 26, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Letitia Wright has been hospitalized on the set for the sequel to Marvel’s hit 2018 film following a stunt rig accident – which is a tool that uses a pulley that makes actors appear as if they are floating, flying or performing a potentially harmful stunt.

As reported by Variety, this incident won’t affect the shooting schedule for the film, however, the more important news is that Wright’s injuries were minor and a quick recovery is expected.

“Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.’ She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon.”

An update from Entertainment Weekly reports that Wright has since been released from hospital and production is expected to continue as planned.

While plot details for Wakanda Forever are currently being kept under wraps, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett, are all expected to reprise their respective roles from the original film.

The latest additions to the cast include Dominique Thorne, who is set to make her MCU debut as Riri Williams/Ironheart, and Michaela Coel in a currently undisclosed role. Director Ryan Coogler is returning to helm the sequel from his screenplay.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will hit theatres on July 8nd, 2022.
